A Cape Coral man was arrested after firing a gun inside his apartment, with bullets flying over the heads of his sleeping neighbors in the next apartment. The incident happened February 18 just before 9 a.m.

Cape Coral police said they were called to an apartment on the 3400 black of Skyline Boulevard after a couple heard ‘loud bangs’ and saw bullet holes in the headboard of their bed.

There was another hole in the dresser mirror at the foot of their bed. After getting up to see what was going on they saw two holes in the walls in the living room.

Officers went to the apartment of the neighbor next door, Ivan Bakh, 61. Bakh’s apartment was cleared to make sure no one else was inside. While in the apartment officers saw a large hole in the wall leading to the couple’s apartment.

A large thick book was propped up on top of a shelf with several rounds of bullet holes it. A target was drawn on the books in red marker. A target was also drawn with a red marker on the wall leading to the next door couple’s apartment.

Police say they found a safe with a 9mm Glock inside the home. The rounds located inside the magazine of the Glock handgun were a match to a 9mm spent casing located on the ground inside the apartment.

Bakh was arrested on charges of shooting into a dwelling and reckless discharge of a firearm in a public or private place.

Bakh was transported to the Lee County Jail.
