Southwest Florida residents can climb aboard a piece of Ford history this weekend at the Punta Gorda Airport.

The Experimental Aircraft Association will exhibit a Ford Tri-Motor 5-A aircraft from Feb. 1 through Feb. 4 at the airport on 28000 Airport Road.

The EAA and the Liberty Aviation Museum have worked together to showcase the first-ever mass produced airliner around the country for all to enjoy.

The Ford Tri-Motor 5-A flew its first flight on December 01, 1928. Only 199 of them were built and only eight of them remain in airworthy condition.
