Clerk fights off would-be robber in Lehigh Acres

A man allegedly fled a 7-Eleven after attempting a robbery and being confronted by a clerk Wednesday night in Lehigh Acres, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said.

The suspect entered the store around 11 p.m. on 1626 Meadow Road, according to Crime Stoppers. The suspect jumped over the counter and attempted to grab the cash from the register drawer.

The clerk on duty grabbed the suspect and a fight ensued, but the suspect left the store without any money, Crime Stoppers said. The clerk suffered minor injuries.

Detectives believe he may have left in a car waiting nearby.

The suspect is described as a man, approximately 5’8”, who wore a white shirt, khaki pants and a green bandana, according to Crime Stoppers.
