Photo via Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office A man was found dead Thursday morning in a retention pond off Tamiami Trail, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office. The body was discovered in the water behind a shopping center on 4265 Tamiami Trail, according to deputies. There is no threat to the public. A parking enforcement officer on patrol found a bike near a ledge while inspecting the body, which was found face down in the water, according to Katie Heck, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office. A medical examiner will determine the cause of death as it is not yet known, Heck said. The circumstances leading up to the man’s death were unclear.
