Bratcher was sleeping in a car and ran once he saw law enforcement, according the sheriff’s office. Bratcher swam through a canal to escape, according to the sheriff’s office. He broke into a home and stole shorts and a cellphone. Police said Bratcher fled because there were drugs in the vehicle. It’s unclear what charges he’ll face.
