2 arrested in South Fort Myers car chase

Two people were arrested after a car chase Thursday morning on Cleveland Avenue, according to the Fort Myers Police Department.

A black 2018 Dodge Charger was reported stolen Wednesday night near the Chili’s Grill and Bar located east of the interstate on Alico Road, according to a press release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, police located the stolen vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop in the area of Colonial Boulevard and South Tamiami Trail, deputies said.

The driver attempted to flee and subsequently collided with parked cars near the 11900 block of South Cleveland Avenue, deputies said.

Jerry Speed, 26, and a 17-year-old boy, who will not be named due to his age, were arrested at the scene, deputies said.

Speed faces charges of fleeing and eluding, armed carjacking, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash and resisting arrest without violence.
