A 64-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting after a party late Sunday night at a condo complex on Santa Barbara Boulevard South, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

There was a gathering at the pool area of a complex on the 4700 block of Santa Barbara Boulevard South, where Philip Bonvino, 64, was in attendance, police said. Bonvino was visiting his girlfriend who lived at the complex. He allegedly argued with partygoers, was vuglar and insulting, according to a statement from other condo residents.

The condo vice-president escorted Bonvino from the party at the pool area around 10:55 p.m.  Bonvino then left the scene for an estimated 20 to 30 minutes before returning with a firearm, according to witness statement. Two people standing near the parking lot saw a red laser and heard the gate opening, before Bonvino approaching with the firearm.

One person charged toward Bonvino to attempt to stop him, but he was shot in the abdomen and fell into bushes, according to police. Other attendees were able to disarm and hold Bonvino unil authorities arrived.

Bonvino faces an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charge and was taken to the Lee County Jail. Bail has not been set.
