SWFL feels the cold as arctic blast sweeps through

Published: Updated:

Southwest Florida is experiencing chilly temperatures Thursday morning as an arctic blast comes through the area.

Area residents, like Doreen Johnson, of Alva, are preparing for the cold weather by wearing warm clothes because the “first thing on my mind when I woke up was I’m going to freeze to death today.”

A freeze warning was in effect until 9 a.m. for Charlotte, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, Highlands, and inland Lee counties, according to the National Weather Service.

Portions of northern Collier County could see freezing temperatures, WINK meteorologist Matt Devitt said.

A wind chill advisory was in effect until 10 a.m. for all of Southwest Florida, according to the National Weather Service.
