Two males were arrested Thursday in connection to an attempted robbery of a Dollar General store on New Year’s Day, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said.

A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old were arrested.

The attempted robbery occurred around 11 a.m. Monday at the store on 18911 S. Tamiami Trail, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

The suspect was described as being around 6 feet tall, 135 pounds and about 25 years old. He had a short black goatee, and was wearing blue jeans, a dark hoodie and aviator sunglasses at the time of the robbery, Crime Stoppers said.

The suspect entered the Dollar General and immediately a store clerk noticed the man acting suspiciously, according to the clerk’s testimony obtained by deputies. After paying for an item in cash, the suspect told the clerk to “give me your cash.”

He then ignored the man’s demand, and the suspect left the store in an unknown direction, according to deputies.
