Southwest Florida residents can donate their blankets and jackets to help those in need as colder weather is expected throughout Southwest Florida.

Donations can be dropped off at the following Salvation Army locations:

  • 2674 Edison Ave.
  • 2450 Edison Ave.
  • 10291 McGregor Blvd.

The organization is expected to open a shelter if temperatures are below 40 degrees, or if Lee County Emergency Management officials implement the “Cold Weather Nights” protocol, said Russell Rieder, Salvation Army director of operations for Lee, Glades and Hendry counties.

The decision to open a shelter may also coincide with the emergency management’s cold weather policy, according to Rieder.
