Man accused of killing wife in Bonita Springs confessed, held without bond

A 51-year-old man confessed to strangling his wife after he was arrested in connection with her death, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Virender Yadav faces a second-degree murder without meditation charge, according to the sheriff’s office. He is being held without bond at the Lee County Jail.

Virender confessed to to losing control and strangling his wife of 15 years, according to court officials. The investigation found Virender and his wife, 42-year-old Ghelin Saray Yadav had a domestic dispute.

Virender found sexually charged text messages in his wife’s phone on Christmas Eve, according to an arrest report. Virender’s wife indicated she was planning to leave him after he confronted her, and he himself contemplated suicide.

Deputies and emergency medical services personnel responded around 7:08 p.m. to a medical assistance call inside an apartment complex on the 28000 block of Dovewood Court, the sheriff’s office said.

Ghelin succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 7:48 inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

The couple’s 12-year-old daughter is currently under the care of the Department of Children and Families as the investigation continues.

His next court appearance will take place on Jan. 29.
