A Cape Coral father has no presents for his son after crooks stole his car with Christmas gifts in the trunk.

“I have a special-needs guy and I keep his presents in the trunk because he snoops around the house,” Mark Iverson said.

The theft occurred last week, one of 10 cars stolen across the city in the last two weeks, police said. There have been 19 so far in December.

“Usually juveniles are taking the cars, leaving them somewhere (and) we find them a few days later,” Cpl. Phil Mullen said. “… Other times, it’s in the bottom of a canal.”

Iverson is losing hope that he’ll get his car and the gifts back.

“The more time that goes by, the less likely I feel they’ll find it,” he said.

He admits he didn’t lock the car.
