Mother, child reported missing in Collier County
NOTE: Law enforcement initially misspelled the last name of the missing mother. The correct spelling is Oliva.
A mother and child were reported missing Thursday after a suspicious incident, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
Vicki Moon Oliva, 24, and her 4-month-old daughter Luna Arteaga were last seen at around 4:12 p.m. in the area of Rattlesnake Hammock Road and US 41 in East Naples, deputies said.
A helicopter and K-9 officers were checking the area near St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Oliva was last seen wearing striped leggings, flip flops and a gray shirt, deputies said. She is about 5 feet tall and weighs about 100 pounds.
Luna was last seen wearing a pink outfit, deputies said. Oliva may be driving a blue, four-door 2010 Honda Civic.
A neighbor saw Oliva and Luna earlier Thursday. Oliva was causing a ruckus and deputies were called, neighbor Peter Casas said.
Oliva left, but sent a voicemail to one of Casas’ friends telling him the baby was at the church, “and if you want him, you can come get him,” Casas said. “If not, we can put her (up) for adoption.”
Casas and his friends immediately drove to the church to find the baby, but had no luck, he said.
