A 29-year-old man was convicted Thursday of sexual battery with threat of force, according to the state attorney’s office.

In March, Malcolm Lamar Porter, of Fort Myers, reportedly told the victim there was a snake loose in a Lehigh Acres house, the state attorney’s office said. The victim called 911 for help finding the snake.

Porter reportedly came up behind the victim, pushed her to the ground and choked her, the state attorney’s office said. Porter then sexually battered the victim.

The victim attempted to escape through the front door but was stopped by Porter, the state attorney’s office said. Porter choked her again and threatened to kill her just before the Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrived.

It’s unclear why the victim was in the house.

Porter is expected to receive 30 years in prison at his sentencing hearing on Feb. 12.
