Teens vandalize Lee County park

PINE ISLAND, Fla. Three teenagers were spotted Wednesday afternoon vandalizing Phillips Park on Pine Island Road, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said.

An upset mother witnessed the teenagers drawing inappropriate messages and images in chalk around the playground, the sheriff’s office said. The culprits were required to cleanup the vandalism immediately after deputies arrived and will not face charges.

“It’s shocking to me that kids would still do that kind of behavior among a community that really does care for everybody. This is your community,” parkgoer Larry James said.

The sheriff’s office reminds the community to always “see something, say something.”

Many deputies carry supplies to clean up vandalism, including $8,000 worth of paint donated to the department by Williams Hardware, the sheriff’s office said.
