Verizon experienced widespread outages in Florida Monday

FORT MYERS, Fla. Verizon customers in Florida experienced widespread issues Monday morning, according to downdetector.com., which uses crowdsourced information from cell phone users.

The outage included Tampa, Miami, Saint Petersburg, Lakeland, Bradenton, Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale, Clearwater, Naples, Cape Coral and 31 other cities.

According to a spokesperson, “Verizon Wireless experienced interruption in service for some customers throughout the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers/Naples, and Tampa/St. Petersburg areas this morning. The outage lasted approximately 2 hours. Engineers were able to identify and resolve the issue promptly and service was restored by 8:45 a.m.”
