Downed tree hangs over Naples woman’s home

EAST NAPLES, Fla. A large tree partially downed by Hurricane Irma is hanging just a few feet away from Shelly Dunn’s roof.

The East Naples resident says the tree has been there for nearly two months, because it’s throwing tree-removal companies through a loop.

“He told me that out of all the projects, it’s not the most expensive or biggest, but it’s the worst and most complicated tree to take down so far due to Hurricane Irma,” Dunn said.

Dunn is concerned if the pine tree, which is over 50-feet tall, falls it will land over her 11-year-old granddaughter’s room.

“The gentleman was saying to me, if he were to use a spike and try to climb the tree the spike would go into the bark and the bark would just fall so it’s not safe to up with spikes at all,” Dunn said.

For now, Dunn is waiting for help to arrive and remains hopeful.
