FORT MYERS, Fla. – During October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we see a lot of pink, and we hear a lot of statistics. For example, it’s projected that by the end of the year, more than ¼ million new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed for 2017. Today, a woman has a 12% lifetime risk for breast cancer.

Dr. James Orr, a Gynecologic Oncologist, is the medical director of the Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic at Lee Health’s Regional Cancer Center, and he was here today to tell us how the survival rates for breast cancer in Southwest Florida are outpacing the national average.
