Cyclist hit by car on Cultural Parkway Blvd. in Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, Fla. A bicyclist was hospitalized after being hit by a car on Cultural Park Boulevard, police said.

The crash closed northbound Cultural Park Boulevard for about three hours after it took place around 9:45 a.m. on the 1000 block, north of Nicholas Parkway.

The car, a dark gray 2015 Kia Forte driven by 27-year-old Elton Pichardo of New York, was headed northbound when it struck the bike, driven by 45-year-old Faith Ann Zappa of Cape Coral, according to police.

Zappa was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with critical injuries, but she’s expected to recover, police said. The car was left with a cracked windshield.

Police don’t expect to file charges.
