LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. A woman’s body was found by the side of a road after a hit-and-run crash, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said.

The victim, who is in her 20s, was killed late Saturday or early Sunday morning, according to Crime Stoppers. A passerby discovered her face-down around noon Sunday in the area of 40th Street SW and Rena Avenue S.

Neighbors say this street is notorious for speeding.

“I have called the police numerous times to come out to my home down the street, expressing how people do 70 to 80 mph,” said Cindy Queen.

The vehicle involved is likely to have sustained front-end damage, Crime Stoppers said. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
