Arrest made after Fort Myers stabbing, high-speed chase

FORT MYERS, Fla. A stabbing that set off a high-speed chase Monday morning led to a crash and an arrest.

Audrey Lee Hill, 38, is accused of stabbing a woman in the eye at about 8:10 a.m. on the 1900 block of Palm Avenue in Fort Myers, police said.

Police were told Hill and the victim were sitting inside a black car in a parking lot. Hill sped away when officers approached, according to police.

Hill drove into North Fort Myers, lost control of the vehicle and struck a van at North Tamiami Trail and Bayshore Road, police said. The crash caused temporary traffic backups.

Hill got out of the vehicle and ran away from the crash but was taken into custody shortly thereafter at the Weavers Corner Shopping Center, according to police.

The victim was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital. Her condition is unclear.

Hill faces charges of felony aggravated battery, felony fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, police said.
