FORT MYERS, Fla. The Inaugural Southwest Florida Hunger Games kicked off Saturday with a goal of crushing hunger.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Top Rocker Field Six Bends Harley-Davidson on 9501 Thunder Rd.

The event for a nonprofit organization called Blessings in a Backpack, which works to make sure children do not go hungry when they’re at school.

More than 25 food trucks from across the area were on hand to serve up everything from ribs to pizza, hot dogs and more.

“We have 3,000 to 4,000 kids that we feed every weekend. They go home on the weekend with a backpack full of food and we got thousands more to feed so we’re raising more money so we can feed more kids,” Six Bends Harley Davidson spokesperson Scott Fischer said.
