Teen wounded in Cape Coral drive-by shooting

CAPE CORAL, Fla. A Cape Coral man was found lying on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound Tuesday night according to Cape Coral police.

Sammie J. Young, 18, told police he and a friend were walking southbound on the 1000 block of Hancock Creek South Boulevard when someone shot at them from a dark-colored sedan going the opposite direction.

Officers found Young lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his left hip. He was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital and is expected to recover, police said.

Young lives on the same block where the shooting took place and is a student at Northern Palms Charter High School, according to police.
