CAPE CORAL, Fla. A man and his 14-year-old son are facing charges of battery on Cape Coral police officers.

Travis Anthony Krater, 34, was arrested and is accused of punching an officer in the mouth late Friday night, police said. His son is accused of assaulting an officer who responded as backup, according to police.

The first officer went to Krater’s home on the 1900 block of Southeast Eighth Street at about 11:15 p.m. after a neighbor said Krater was harassing her. Krater shoved the officer and threw the punch after the officer tried to detain him by the front door, police said.

Krater’s son delivered a forearm to the backup officer’s head, according to police.

The backup officer tried to subdue them with a Taser, but Krater grabbed it and tossed it into a pool behind the house, police said.

Krater barricaded himself in the home for several hours before a SWAT team went in and took him into custody, according to police.

Krater is facing additional charges of resisting arrest with violence, grand theft (of the Taser), criminal mischief (destruction of the Taser), and police obstruction (depriving officer of means of protection or communication). He’s at the Lee County Jail on $260,000 bond.

Krater’s son is also facing an additional charge of resisting arrest with violence. He’s being held at the Juvenile Assessment Center.
