Photo via the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife SANIBEL, Fla. An injured bald eagle found floating in a St. James City canal is receiving treatment at the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife. The adult bird has an open fracture of the right humerus, the clinic said. Radiographs revealed it also has an older, stable and healing fracture of its left ulna. Clinic workers dressed the wound and placed the right wing in a body wrap bandage for temporary stabilization. An IV catheter was inserted so the eagle can receive IV fluids, injectable antibiotics and pain medicine, the clinic said. Surgery on the right humerus is planned once the bird becomes stable. It’s unclear how the bird was hurt.
