NORTH PORT, Fla. A 57-year-old man was killed in a crash Friday evening on Interstate 75 at mile marker 181, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at around 9:30 p.m. and caused a complete roadblock on the northbound lanes of Interstate 75, the FHP said.

Bradley Demorrow, 50, of Port Charlotte, was driving a 2005 Ford E150 northbound on Interstate 75 in the outside lane, the FHP said. Demorrow was driving behind a 2011 Freightliner FLD132 being driven by Yovanus Zaldivar Ortiz, 39, of Homestead.

Demorrow struck the left rear of a trailer being towed by the freightliner, the FHP said. Demorrow’s vehicle rotated clockwise and overturned.

Demorrow was transferred to Blake Medical Center with critical injuries, the FHP said. His passenger, Timothy Forrester, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ortiz was uninjured in the crash.
