Arcadia native, lineman dies working to restore power

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. An Arcadia native and power company lineman died Sunday while working to repair damage from Hurricane Irma.

Scott Christopher Reid, 26, was on the job in Fort Lauderdale when he died, according to an obituary from Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home. He’s survived by a wife and two daughters who live in Sebring.

His cause of death was not listed.

Reid enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, riding four-wheelers, “being a jokester and just having a good time,” his obituary reads.

Visitation will be held on from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Fort Green Baptist Church in Hardee County from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with a funeral service starting at 2 p.m.

Reid will be buried at Ft. Green Baptist Cemetery, according to the obituary.
