NAPLES, Fla. Dishwashers and washing machines are no longer off-limits to Collier County residents, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency officials in Collier County told residents last week not to use the appliances because they were overwhelming the compromised wastewater system and causing sewers to overflow.

Collier County Utilities earlier Wednesday lifted its boil water advisory for all customers except in Everglades City. But boil water notices are still in place for FGUA customers in Golden Gate and Naples

Lee County officials also told residents not to use dishwashers or washing machines, and the restriction remains in place there. Two Fort Myers laundromats are offering free services Thursday.
