Bubbling sewage fouls Lee County neighborhood

ESTERO, Fla. Bubbling sewage is overflowing on lawns and roads in the Bella Terra community.

Management officials sent an email Monday to residents living at the community on Bella Terra Boulevard to notify them sewer pump stations were working at maximum capacity.

Residents were also urged to conserve water as Hurricane Irma recovery continues.

Standby generators are operating the community’s lift stations, according to Lee County Utilities. The community is one of 120 lift stations without power in the county.

Residents experiencing sewage backups in their home should contact Lee County Utilities.

Anyone with questions or concerns should contact the Department of Environmental Protection at 239-344-5600.
