FORT MYERS, Fla. Don’t ignore that growing pile of dirty laundry.

Residents will be able to wash and dry three loads of laundry for free at three Fort Myers laundromats, city spokeswoman Kirsten O’Donnell said.

The offer applies from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the K&M Wash House locations on 2829 S. Cleveland Ave. and 2451 Hanson St. Registration is highly recommended. To register, call 239-321-7445 between 8 a.m. and noon Thursday.

No registration will take place for a free wash-and-dry period going on from noon to 4 p.m. at the Wash House on 691 Van Buren St. The last wash there will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Emergency officials in Lee and Collier counties told residents days after Hurricane Irma hit to avoid using washing machines and dishwashers because of compromised wastewater systems, though they’ve since rescinded those requests.
