Crews prepare to combat mosquitoes in Collier following Irma

NAPLES, Fla. Don’t let the post-Irma mosquitoes bug you.

The Collier Mosquito Control officials provided the following suggestions to help prevent bug bites:

• Avoid being outside at dawn and dusk
• Wear long, loose clothing that covers your skin
• Use repellents such as DEET, picaridin and oil of lemon eucalyptus to keep mosquitoes away
• Check your property for containers with standing water

To help relieve the itching, officials suggest using hydrocortisone 1% crème, calamine lotion, ice, honey, or apple cider vinegar as remedies.
