Punta Gorda issues trash pickup guidelines

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. Residents should follow specific guidelines when disposing of debris and household garbage after Hurricane Irma, city officials said.

Household garbage and recycling will return to a normal schedule, city officials said. Residents should have all trash out to the curb at 6 a.m. on the day of collections.

Yard waste including palm fronds, branches, leaves and shrubbery should not exceed 4 inches in diameter or 4 feet in length, city officials said. Residents should not mix yard waste with regular household trash.

Specific pickup times and dates of yard waste will be issued forthcoming, city officials said.

Drywall, carpet, furniture and building debris should be placed in a separate pile, city officials said.
