FORT MYERS, Fla. The effects of Hurricane Irma left a total of 170,000 customers without power, the Lee County Electric Cooperative said Monday morning. There is approximately 166,632 customers in Southwest Florida who remain without power as of the 5 p.m. update. LCEC restoration crews and out-of-state mutual aid conducted assessment Monday, the company said. Additional crews are scheduled to arrive Monday night and Tuesday to assist in restoration efforts. Power will first be restored to “essential services” such as traffic signals, hospitals, shelters, communication services, and law enforcement, the company said. Crews will then work to restore power by repairing main circuits. The next update will be provided at 5 a.m. Tuesday.
