Hurricane Katia winds decrease to 75mph

FORT MYERS, Fla. Hurricane Katia has weakened to a Category 1 storm Friday evening, the National Hurricane Center said.

Hurricane Katia’s maximum sustained winds decreased to 75 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. The system is moving west-southwest at 7 mph.

Hurricane Katia is about 120 miles south-southeast of Tampico, Mexico, and about 115 miles north of Veracruz, Mexico, the National Hurricane Center.

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Cabo Rojo to Laguna Verde, according to the National Hurricane Center.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for north of Cabo Rojo to Rio Panuco, and south of Laguna Verde to Puerto Veracruz, the National Hurricane Center said.
