Man attempts to rob Cape Coral bank

CAPE CORAL, Fla. An attempted robbery was reported Friday afternoon at the Fifth Third Bank on Hancock Bridge Parkway, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

It happened at around 12:30 p.m. on 114 Hancock Bridge Parkway West, police said.

The suspect passed a note demanding money and left the scene after the bank manager refused to give him any, according to police. He drove a dark blue Chevrolet Malibu or Impala, possibly bearing a specialty license plate.

The suspect is believed to be a white man between 28 and 35 years old, between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-3 tall and possibly 150 to 170 pounds, police said. He has brown hair and wore a blue-and-white plaid button-down long-sleeve shirt, baggy blue jeans, a Detroit Tigers baseball cap, and black-framed glasses..

No weapons were displayed and the suspect fled the area, police said.

No further information was immediately available.
