FORT MYERS, Fla. Two people were hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash on Griffin Parkway near College Club Drive Saturday evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The pair had to be extricated from the car using the jaws of life, according to the San Carlos Fire Department. One person suffered a head injury and was trauma-alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital while the other was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on Griffin around 5:17 p.m. when it struck a tree and rolled over into the northbound lanes, the fire department said.

One northbound lane on Griffin is blocked, but is expected to be cleared within a half hour.

No further information is immediately available.
