Two men died early Friday morning in a fiery crash at the intersection of Summerlin Road and Hawks Landing Drive, the Fort Myers Police Department said. Driver Cheyne Evan Diaz, 31, and passenger Maximillian Gino Taggard, 22, both of Fort Myers, were identified as the victims of the early morning wreck. The southbound lanes of Summerlin Road were shut down for several hours, but reopened shortly before 7 a.m., police said. “I think this road needs to be dismantled and brought down to at least two or four lanes,” nearby resident Marty Oliphant said. “Because this six lane highway business isn’t conducive for residential living.” Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Speeding played a role in the crash, police said. Another crash killed one person Friday morning at the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and State Road 82.
