Man dies from injuries in South Naples crash

SOUTH NAPLES, Fla. A 72-year-old man died Monday from injuries suffered in a May 12 crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Ricardo Avila, 72, of Naples, suffered a medical episode while driving south on St. Andrews Boulevard and lost control of his 2006 Honda Civic near Rattlesnake Hammock Road, troopers said.

The Honda struck trees on the right shoulder of St. Andrews Boulevard and spun out.

The crash took place around 12:44 p.m., the FHP said.

Avila was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
