A funnel cloud was spotted Monday evening at the Punta Gorda Airport, the National Weather Service said. The cloud was seen at 6:35 p.m. as a line of rain moved east through the area. Funnel clouds can become short-lived tornadoes with little or no warning, the weather service said. Funnel clouds are common in Southwest Florida and little risk of a tornado developing exists, WINK meteorologist Scott Zedeker said. Click here to see the latest radar images.
