Portion of SR-70 reopens following limited visibility

Published: Updated:

ARCADIA, Fla. A stretch of State Road 70 reopened Wednesday morning follow instances of low visibility due to poor visibility from smoke and fog, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The closure happened just after 6:15 a.m. and spanned two counties, according to the FHP. State Road 70 was shut down from Four Mile Grade Road in DeSoto County to Placid Lakes Boulevard in Highlands County.

This was not the first time a portion of State Road 70 has closed for visibility concerns. It closed multiple times in March 2017.

No further information was immediately available.
