CAPE CORAL, Fla. The search for a suspect vehicle believed to have been involved in a shooting Sunday night has been canceled, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

The shooting took place on the 2200 block of Northwest Embers Terrace and injured two teens, the department said. The vehicle was initially described as a blue Toyota Corolla or Camry with three men inside.

The shooting was an isolated, narcotics-related incident, police said.

One male, 14, was shot in the face, according to police, and was taken to the hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

He also shot in either the hip or back, according to conflicting police statements.

Another man, 19-year-old Xavier Francisco Henriquez, was discovered hiding in the bushes at the 100 block of SW 17th Place with a gunshot wound in his calf, police said.

Both men are considered victims, police said. Henriquez is also referred to as “Henriguez” in a police report.

“Our Major Crimes Unit is working diligently to bring this case to its proper conclusion. As we make progress, we will continue to provide updates to our community,” said police spokesman Lieutenant Dana Coston. “We appreciate the outpouring of information, tips, and encouragement that we have received from the public.”

The investigation is still ongoing.
