A request by Mark Sievers to use taxpayers funds to pay for a private investigator was granted by Circuit Court Judge Bruce E. Kyle on Thursday. Sievers, who made the request in December 2016 after stating he couldn’t afford his legal fees, will hire Justice Investigation Services, Inc., at a rate of $40 an hour for up to 300 hours. Sievers could request additional hours if needed, court documents said. Sievers is charged with first-degree murder in what investigators described as a murder-for-hire plot to kill his wife.
