CAPE CORAL, Fla. Crews were able to contain an 8-acre brush fire that ignited at the 2600 block of Ceitus Parkway Thursday afternoon, the Caloosahatchee Forestry Center said.

Ceitus Parkway was shut down for several hours as firefighters battled the flames.

A firefighter was hospitalized with heat-related injuries, but is expected to be OK, according to fire officials.

While no homes are in danger, a nearby assisted living facility was evacuated as a precaution, fire officials said.

It’s unclear what started the fire.

No further information is immediately available.
