FORT MYERS, Fla. University prices are costly, and additional fees contribute to the price tag.

Dana Zucker, a mother of twins in college, was unaware of the additional fees included in the bill.

“I really don’t know what that (extra) $1,500, $1,600 goes to, to be honest,” Zucker said.

Dr. Richard Vedder, who runs a college affordability think tank, explained how the additional fees differ by college.

“Often, a university will have a big fee, called a comprehensive fee, that really represents 8 or 10 smaller fees that are all rolled in into one,” Vedder said.
