The Florida Everblades learned that lesson the hard way Monday night in a 1-0 double-overtime loss to the South Carolina Stingrays in Game 3 of the ECHL South Division Finals. Goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic stopped the first 37 shots he saw, but Andrew Cherniwchan fired the 38th into the back of the net at the 2:39 mark of the second overtime to give South Carolina a 2-1 lead in the series. A breakaway chance in the third period from Florida’s Matt Berry ricocheted off the post and onto the boards, spoiling a golden opportunity for the Everblades to get on the board. Stingrays goaltender Parker Milner racked up 38 saves to keep Florida at bay. Game 4 is set for 7:05 p.m. Wednesday at the North Charleston Coliseum. The Everblades would have to win either that one or Thursday’s Game 5 to return to Estero for a sixth game.
