2 arrested in Fort Myers drug bust

FORT MYERS, Fla. Two men were arrested Friday for alleged drug trafficking, the Fort Myers Police Department said.

Sam Young, 21, and Kenny Louis, 34, are facing various drug charges following an undercover investigation and a search of their home at 3051 Calvin Blvd.

Detectives recovered $3,300 in narcotics proceeds, a Kel-Tec 9mm firearm with an extended magazine, 18.2 grams of marijuana, 0.2 grams of cocaine, 0.6 grams of heroin, packaging paraphernalia, weights scales and several sets of two-way communication devices used by the suspects to conduct counter-surveillance on detectives, police said.

Electronics equipment suspected of being stolen from retail stores and residences were also recovered.

During the investigation, detectives bought cocaine and heroin from Young at the home, police said. These purchases were made within 200 feet of the First Haitian Baptist Church, and 1,000 feet from Coronado High School and Fort Myers Middle School.

The investigation also revealed Louis was assisting Young with the drug sales at the home. Louis has an extensive criminal history ranging from narcotics to burglary related crimes, according to the police department.

Young is facing charges of heroin sales and possession within 1,000 feet of a place of worship, cocaine sales and possession within 1,000 feet of a place of worship, possession of marijuana under 20 grams and destruction of evidence.

Louis is facing charges of heroin possession with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a place of worship, cocaine possession within 1,000 feet of a place of worship and possession of a controlled substance.

Young is in custody with a $126,000 bond, while Louis has a $65,000 bond.
