CAPE CORAL, Fla. A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 31-year-old convicted felon on Thursday, the Cape Coral Police Department said.

Conelius M. Hicks, 31, of Andalusia Boulevard, was sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle when they were pulled over for crossing a median illegally, officials said. When the officer approached the vehicle Hicks opened the door and said he was leaving.

When the officer walked over to Hicks he noticed a .45 caliber Kimber handgun wedged between the seat and several baggies of cocaine were located on the passenger side floorboard, officials said.

Hicks faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of cocaine and remained in the Lee County Jail on Thursday under no bond. His next scheduled court date is May 30.
