SAN CARLOS PARK, Fla. A group of thieves are accused of breaking into several cars Wednesday morning, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said.

Between the hours of 2:30 and 3:00 a.m., the suspects burglarized approximately a dozen cars in the Timberlake Community off of Three Oaks Parkway, detectives said. Another break-in was reported Monday 4 miles away, near Lee Road.

All of the vehicles were unlocked at the time of Tuesday’s break-ins and one truck was stolen from a driveway, Crime Stoppers said. Detectives eventually found the stolen truck abandoned near the community pool area.

Home surveillance video captured images that appear to show the suspects lingering around cars in the neighborhood.

“The best rule of thumb to keep yourself from becoming a victim of a car burglary is to take the brief, simple step of locking the doors,” Crime Stoppers Coordinator Trish Routte said. “That momentary action can prevent a crime from occurring, and most times will ensure that your valuables won’t end up in the wrong hands.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
