LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. A precautionary boil water notice was issued Saturday night due to a water main break, the Florida Governmental Utility Authority said.

The advisory applies to customers on the west side of Gunnery Road, including Gunnery Road, North and South to Leonard Boulevard and Westminster Golf Club, according to a press release. Water used for drinking and cooking should be boiled at a rolling boil for one minute.

The notice was put into effect at around 8:30 p.m. after a vehicle hit a fire hydrant across from 5190 Lee Boulevard, according to officials. The break was isolated around 10:15 p.m.

Crews are working to repair the break, evaluate the water quality and attempt to reverse the notice by Tuesday, officials said.

It’s unclear how many customers were affected.
