FORT MYERS, Fla. — A subtropical depression has formed in the northern Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center said.

The system, known as Subtropical Depression One, is not expected to threaten land. It’s several hundred miles east of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, moving north-northeast at 12 mph, meteorologist Scott Zedeker said.

“It’s not really going to turn into anything,” Zedeker said.”It’s not even truly tropical.”

Wind shear and cold water are expected to weaken the system, which is predicted to dissipate by Thursday, according to the Hurricane Center.
